This activity will help the child improve sensory movement and strengthen their fingers.

  • 1 Toothbrush
  • 1 Palette
  • 1 set Watercolor paint (or washable paint)
  • 1 page Paper
  • 1 Stencil of Elephant (Full-page sized)


  1. Set the stencil over the plain paper.
  2. Help the child dip the toothbrush into the water and dab some paint on the brush.
  3. Place one of the child's hands on the stencil.
  4. Guide the child's other hand to sprinkle or swipe paint inside the stencil.
  5. Help the child carefully remove the stencil.
  6. You will now see a colorful elephant on the white sheet!
You can use any stencil for this activity.
1. See what shades of color you can make by using more/less water.
2. Discuss what colors you can mix together to make new colors.
