Use small motor skills to create a heart-shaped card for family and friends to share smiles and love on Valentine's Day.

Supplies

  • 3 Construction paper (Red, purple & pink)
  • 1 Craft scissors with smooth or decorative cutting edge
  • 1 Glue Stick
  • Valentine stickers
  • glitter stick

Steps

  1. Cut large square from red construction paper.
  2. Cut medium square from purple construction paper.
  3. Cut small square from pink construction paper.
  4. Fold squares in half.
  5. Draw ½ heart, that utilizes full space, against folded edge of each square.
  6. Use craft scissors to cut along drawn lines.
  7. Unfold cut section to reveal full heart.
  8. Using glue stick, center and attach small heart to medium heart.
  9. Repeat, attaching medium heart to large heart.
  10. Individualize with sticker and glitter embellishments.
  11. Have child sign and date card.
Adaptations
For younger children, provide pre-cut hearts.
Older children might further embellish with cut paper doilies.
Associated Activity
The square of paper from which each heart is cut, may be used to create photo frames or additional Valentine cards
