Supplies

  • White paper (One piece per child)
  • Crayons (Assorted colors)
  • Markers (Assorted colors)

Steps

  1. Talk with each child about the members of his or her family.
  2. Have child draw and color a tree on his or her paper.
  3. After coloring tree, have child draw an apple for each member of their family.
  4. Ask child to label each apple with family members title and/or name. You may need to write for younger kids.
Adaptations
For younger kids, provide tree shape instead of drawing. Also, use pictures of family members in place of apples.
For older kids, use a branched tree. Have child place apples for immediate family on one branch. Then, ask them to make a branch for grandparents, aunts/uncles/ cousins, etc.
Tips & Tricks
If using actual pictures, please make sure families know pictures will be cut and glued.
