Create a Native American headband for Thanksgiving.

  • Strip of construction paper (Measure to fit around child's head)
  • Markers (Assorted colors)
  • Adhesive foam shapes (Available at craft stores)
  • Craft feathers
  • Glue
  • Stapler (Adult Use Only)

Steps

  1. Measure construction paper strip to fit around child's head.
  2. Discuss the Native Americans and their role in the first Thanksgiving. Talk about their headbands.
  3. Have kids attach adhesive foam shapes to headband. Review shapes as kids attach them.
  4. Glue feathers onto headband as desired.
  5. Adult: Staple headband together for child.
Adaptations
For younger kids, omit adhesive foam shapes. Let kids color headbands.
For older kids, create shape patterns on headband.
