Supplies

  • Flour
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Cotton balls
  • Cookie sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Several small bowls
  • Measuring cups
  • Plastic kids' hammer

Steps

  1. Adult: Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Mix 1 cup water and 1 cup flour in large mixing bowl with spoon.
  3. Divide mixture into several smaller bowls. Add desired food coloring to each bowl and mix.
  4. Line cookie sheet with foil.
  5. Dip cotton balls into desired color and coat well.
  6. Place dipped cotton balls onto foil-lined cookie sheet.
  7. Adult: Place cookie sheet in oven. Bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Adult: Remove cookie sheet from oven. Set aside to cool for at least 15 minutes. Make sure hot pan is out of reach of children.
  9. Once cool, let children smash baked cotton balls with toy hammer.
Tips & Tricks
Smash cotton balls on foil or wax paper for easier clean-up.
